Why Hello there!

I’m Jarryd Hall, CSI, a freelance colourist based in Perth Australia, specialising in colour correction, grading and online finishing services through attended and remote sessions, working on DaVinci Resolve, FilmLight Baselight, Digital Vision Nucoda and ColorFront platforms.

My passion for filmmaking began all the way in my teenage years with a love for all things editing, camera and video related. Starting out with a Sony DVCAM camera, Final Cut Pro 3, and various quirky and weird analog video tools, I looked for any excuse to document, shoot and edit everything. That energy provided a great foundation of skills to solve technical problems creatively that I still use today.

Initially starting in both camera and post-production, the RED ONE digital cinema camera was my ticket to working with wonderfully experienced directors and cinematographers, learning the ways of the film business, and falling in love with the world of colour correction, creative looks, and the art of balancing different shots and cameras together.

In 2019 I temporarily moved to London, U.K. to work and rapidly up-skill in a challenging environment, meet and work with the creators behind Baselight and Nucoda, whilst continuing to remote grade for my Australian clients, bringing my passion for new technologies onto every project. I returned back to Sydney to join the D.I. team on Animal Logic’s Peter Rabbit 2.

Thereafter I have enjoyed a mix of finishing colour and dailies colourist work with digital film workflow organisations including The Rebel Fleet, Spectrum Films, Technicolor, and Picture Shop (AU / US / UK teams), working both within Australia and in London for Disney, Netflix, Amazon Originals and Apple TV+ shows and feature films.

I love the challenge of working with a wide variety of content and pride myself on providing friendly, personalised and highly technical services without technical confusion, using both technical and creative visual storytelling skills to make great images shine for television, cinema and online. I am proud to be one of the founding members of the AU/NZ CSI local chapter and a full professional member of both the Colorist Society International (CSI) and the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS).
